Megan Mckean is an Australian designer, illustrator and author and her body of work can be found on this website. "Hello, New Zealand"! is the fourth book in a series about different places written for children. It's a lovely, big colourful book filled with double-spread illustrations.
The author takes the reader on a journey from the top to the bottom of New Zealand with five little kiwis as guides. You have to hunt for the kiwis in each picture. Along the way, you are introduced to the places, sights, flora and fauna of New Zealand.
As you can see, this story is for very young children - definitely under 8 years old. This would also be great for families who live outside of New Zealand and would like a book about NZ and its geography. The only thing that's missing is a decent map showing where all the places are. You could always use Google Earth instead.
This book has only recently been published (2019) so it is available to purchase at all major booksellers and you should be able to find it in your local library.
